Most people who love nature and wildlife have heard stories of animal/human encounters that indicate some form of communication between 2 alien species. I recently watched on TV as people in a boat came up to a whale entangled in a fishing net, the whale was tired, nearly death and it let the boat get close enough for the people to cut it free. Then seeming to thank the people the whale breached several time before swimming off.
The Caribbean reef squid encounter had a profound effect on us, no they are not whales or dolphins but looking into their eyes, seeing the movements and changes in color leaves no doubt in me that they were trying to communicate.
