Victoria British Columbia Inner Harbour Sunset - Spectacular - YouTube

The Sunset in Victoria Inner Harbour was beautiful!! After, I wandered in among the incredible Totems wishing all I could here was the sounds of birds and animals rather than traffic and city noise.

Rocky Mountain Wood Tick - Tick Season is Here - Youtube

We brought home a stow-away!! It's tick season so make sure you check yourself out when you get home. This stow-away came from the Myra Canyon Trestles, near Kelowna, BC. I hope tourists know. There isn't any information up there about it. I don't remember them being so pretty . . .

Frog - Kane Valley British Columbia - YouTube

I AM the Frog Whisperer! LOL So what happened was, I was walking along the edge of the water to be able to film the water lily and was startled by this frog who hopped away to avoid meeting my sandal! She posed at the lily for me, then swam back right by me again!! Even let me pick her up.

Jewel of the Caribbean - Xcalak Mexico

In the south of the Yucatan Peninsula is Costa Maya with the town of  Mahahual and  about 50 or so km away, Xcalak. Both are gems, with Mahahual being larger with boutique hotels, many restaurants and services. Xcalak  is smaller and if you check on a map, it is actually at the end of a peninsula so it is south enough to be by location in Belize.

The main activities that attract tourists and visitors is the amazing clear waters for diving and snorkeling, great sport fishing in the mangroves and on the flats and bird watching is also becoming popular. There are kayak excursions to take you further away from civilization into this spectacular area.

Birding in British Columbia 2012

Just a sample of the birds we filmed in British Columbia in the last couple of months. Some are migratory, some are rare like the The Long-billed Curlew and some are common like the Canada Geese.

Caribbean Hideaway Escape ~ Mahahual, Mexico

Mahahual, Costa Maya, Mexico has stollen my heart. The people, the beauty, the fishing, the snorkeling . . . *sigh* The spotted ray that's in the avatar and the video startled me. I wasn't far off the beach snorkeling and it was very curous about me. lol

Caribbean Crocodile Adventure ~ Banco Chinchorro, Mexico

Banco Chinchorro is a coral atoll about an 1 1/2 hour boat ride off Costa Maya in Mexico. It's like stepping into another world!!

Hundreds of crocodiles live wild and free at Banco Chinchorro Mexico, the small coral atoll 35km off shore from Costa Maya.

catching jellyfish in Key West

I wanted to just cross the road from our hotel & do some snorkeling while staying in Key West. A little exploration first & I discovered this little bay was full of jellyfish. Not so good for snorkeling. lol

Turtle Museum ~ Key West, FLORIDA

I LOVED Key West, Florida.

It was about was about 36C with humidity that made it feel over 40C. But, who cares! It was so amazing there. We wondered around on the piers this day and I stumbled into the Turtle Museum.

Great curator, lots of history and entertainment with tunes played on dulcimers! There's just no place that compares to the feeling in Key West.

Western Painted Turtle - Chrysemys picta bellii

We found these turtles sunning themselves on a small pond.

The Western Painted Turtle is named after the bright yellow stripes on its head, neck, tail and legs, and the glowing red on its plastron (shell covering the belly) and under-edge of its carapace (shell covering the back).

Most adult Painted Turtles spend the winter hibernating in the mud at the bottom of ponds and lakes.  Once temperatures warm up and the ice leaves the water, Painted Turtle courtship begins.

In B.C., Painted Turtles are found in pockets throughout the southern interior, as far north as Golden.   This includes the Okanagan Valley, Kamloops Lake, Shuswap Lake, and the Creston and Nelson Area.

At present, the Western Painted Turtle is on the provincial blue list.  This means they are considered vulnerable to habitat loss, and susceptible to human and natural disturbances.  Habitat is being lost because of pollution and waterway interference due to damming, agriculture, and urbanization of waterfronts.

Earth Day 2012 Jamaica - Fire Water and Who's the owner of the oil

Unethical Oil...who owns it?  Wars are fought over it. Who's the owner of the oil?

It's funny that super powers fight wars for oil. Sometimes the population of a country is enslaved by corrupt governments, oil companies and foreign intervention, while forgetting that small nations that do not have oil reserves cannot afford to pay the ever increasing price of oil.

This fire water is in Jamaica, near Runaway Bay, owned by Kevin. While here, we were treated to Kevin's friend reciting 'Dove Peotry' for us.

Earth Day 2012 - United States

What better day to explore . . .

Earth Day is perfect for checking out some of the unique features of the USA. We traveled around the US for nearly 6 weeks and more than 10,000 miles an found an amazingly diverse and beautiful country.

Sadly as is much of our Earth, the USA is also facing huge challenges as the environment takes a back seat to momentary monetary opportunities. The environment is the most valuable asset we have so preserving it is a no brainier.

California Beach - NICE!!

Between LA and San  Francisco the road meanders along the coast with small towns and many beaches to explore.  There are no crowds here, and it seems like a very laid back place.  It's a California that many people are looking for and finding it is as easy as leaving the bigger centers behind.

California - driving along the coast

The scenery is spectacular, lots of beaches, hills, wildflowers but there is also agriculture, farms and the smell of the strawberry fields is intoxicating.  Driving along on a hot summer day at 60 - 70mph, windows down, the smell of the strawberries just fills the air. And luckily there are fruit stands to be found.

Down by the sea in Oregon - Travel

Same day as other videos but we moved down the coast to another beach and the sun came out.  Spectacular, I would love to spend a few days along here, checking out the beaches in rain and bright sun, it's so beautiful.  Also when the tide is out starfish and other creatures get exposed along the rocks.

Pacific Northwest Travel Guide - Oregon Coast

Even in the summer the Pacific Northwest Coast of Oregon can be on the cooler side, but it just doesn't matter.  Watch the fog roll in, clouds and surf and realize that this is one of the most beautiful places to visit.

Caribbean Cruising - Costa Maya Port - YouTube

We spent two weeks in the Coast Maya. It's paradise ~ untouched by tourism in many ways; the beaches, the snorkeling, the countryside, the Maya Ruins.

On this day, we spent some time exploring the port of Costa Maya - destination for many cruise ships. Destroyed in 2007 by Hurricane Dean, within 18 months and much hard work, it was rebuilt and receiving ships and tourists again.

It's a beautiful port and offers so much to do if you chose to just disembark and hang our around the port. Otherwise, there are many, many things to see and do in this area.

Dominican Republic off the beaten path - YouTube

We were staying in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic when locals there kept telling us about the beauty of Samana. It was their secret ~ pristine and untouched by tourism. They were so right! It IS beautiful & definitely a favorite to us.

If you like to get away from it all in a tropical setting that won't break the bank, check out Samana Dominican Republic.
