Are all charities questioned for alleged partisan politics?

The harper government, as we all know, is stifling dissenters. The harper government has ordered the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to investigate the 'charitable status' of a great many organizations. This is because, “registered charities are allowed to devote only a small fraction of their resources to political activity, although they can never be partisan.1

Bottom line, the harper government will not tolerate any voices that disagree with his ideology. The Suzuki Foundation has recently been reported to the CRA by the harper government tentacle, EthicalOil.org. And where does EthicalOil.org funding come from?

It is time the right wing charities be investigated as well.
"All is fair in love and war".

Please add any right wing charity you are aware of. This list can be used for submitting to:  the CRA, media, opposition, tweeting, blogging etc. Include links if you have them.

A Nation With Vision!

We the people of Canada wish to serve notice to you; the United States of America, China and the European Union, that we live in a democracy that gives the people of this great nation the ultimate say on whether we will ratify or reject all agreements that have been made with you that have not received the support of at minimum, a Real Majority of all eligible voters in this country!

Stephen Harper, you too are being served notice, that your agreements; whether the Perimeter and Security Agreement, Security and Prosperity Agreement, Free Trade Agreements with other countries that are currently being entered into without full disclosure to the Canadian electorate, will be subject to the acceptance of at least 2/3rds of all sitting Members of the House in a free and unwhipped vote in the next Parliament of Canada! You promote democracy around the world! Canadians will be given a chance to exercise it through the Gathering Will of a Real Majority of the people! We must always accept the judgement of the people, and honour the decisions of the people who make the right decisions provided they are given full disclosure on matters before the nation!

In clear conscience we cannot allow a government which has received only 40% of the popular vote of the people to enforce a mandate that was not clearly communicated to Canadians by the Conservative Party of Canada!

As you are preparing for the next General Election, let it be known that whether we have 308, or 338 federal ridings in the country, there will be one non-partisan Courageous Canadian who will stand in each riding and serve the Will of a Real Majority of his/her constituents, their national Vision and a Mandate of and by Canadians.

You will have a chance to meet them when every seat in the House of Commons will be occupied by men and/or women duly elected, who will take the Stand for our national sovereignty, and deliver the democratic and economic authority to the most important SHAREHOLDERS, every citizen of this great Canadian nation!

The Spirit in this country is what calls us to serve the freedom of Canadians in truth and in justice!

Change is coming!

Ticks are out - Meet the intruder!

Not too much bothers Cindy except for ticks. She felt something on her neck after a hike, saw it a tick and gave it a flick! It landed somewhere on the carpet. DOH!! Meanwhile after vacuuming to try and suck it up, it had not actually flicked, but had stuck on her clothes and once again she felt it on my neck!! I rescued the tick! lol Meet the intruder!

Spring is tick is season of the tick. This one came home with us from our trip up to Myra Canyon. These little things pose a danger to humans and animals.

Ticks feed on blood by attaching to animals or people with their mouth parts. Females are a little larger than males and when they're full of blood can be as big as a grape. Younger tick life stages are smaller and, when unfed, are lighter in colour. People and pets can pick up ticks by brushing against vegetation.

Lyme disease is an illness caused by the bacterium, Borrelia burgdorferi, which can be spread through the bite of certain types of ticks. Lyme disease in humans can have serious symptoms but can be effectively treated. Lyme disease has been reported in parts of Europe, Asia, and throughout much of North America.

Is the Harper Gov't sabotaging the Parliamentary Process?

My Letter to the Editor:

Is the Harper Government sabotaging the Parliamentary Process?

This issue of the F-35 Jets and the Harper government’s refusal to produce figures, forced the unnecessary election of 2011. Last week, the Auditor General of Canada released a scathing report, revealing that the Harper government apparently has 2 sets of books for the purchase of these F-35 Jets. One set of books quotes the jet procurement at $9 Billion. This is the figure given to Canadians, the figure the Harper government campaigned on.

The F-35 Jets are in fact $25 Billion. The Auditor Generals’ report showed the full costs of a proposed $25-billion fighter jet purchase was HIDDEN from the public. This figure of $25 Billion was apparently in the Harper government’s second set of books that the Harper government DIDN'T tell Canadians about.

The Opposition parties (NDP, Liberals & Green) have demanded a committee hearing to get to the bottom of this fraud, to find those responsible and to prevent Canadian tax dollars from being wasted. The hearing begins Thursday.

This week, the Harper government and the Opposition have been meeting to discuss evidence and witnesses for that hearing. We are always hear from the Harper government that they are 'transparent'. Yet, they will NOT permit these hearings to be public. Further to that, the Harper government is refusing to cooperate by voting down any and all witnesses and evidence the Opposition Parties have put forward. The Harper government says they have nothing to hide. Then why are they trying to sabotage the Parliamentary process?

Earth Day 2012 Jamaica - Fire Water and Who's the owner of the oil

Unethical Oil...who owns it?  Wars are fought over it. Who's the owner of the oil?

It's funny that super powers fight wars for oil. Sometimes the population of a country is enslaved by corrupt governments, oil companies and foreign intervention, while forgetting that small nations that do not have oil reserves cannot afford to pay the ever increasing price of oil.

This fire water is in Jamaica, near Runaway Bay, owned by Kevin. While here, we were treated to Kevin's friend reciting 'Dove Peotry' for us.

VOTER FRAUD COURT CASE - CANADA ELECTION 41

Dear Friends,

Voting Matters.

Whether it's Election Day in our community or a vote in Parliament or City Hall, every legal vote must count.

Last year, something went wrong during our federal election. As we have read in the papers and seen on the news, many Canadians, Etobians included, were targeted with lies and dirty tricks, as bad actors attempted to rig our election. Sometimes voters were misled and misdirected so as to take away their right to vote. In other cases, the voting at polls was disrupted.

In Etobicoke Centre, among other things, it is possible that some people voted twice.

Last June, to get to the truth, I took on the fight for our democratic rights. Using my own resources, I challenged last year's election results in Ontario's courts.

On Monday, April 23, the case I have brought forward on behalf of the people of Etobicoke Centre, and all Canadians, will be heard commencing at 10:00 a.m. in Court Room 806, 393 University Ave., Toronto.

If you would like more information about this important issue, please contact my team.

Earth Day 2012 - United States

What better day to explore . . .

Earth Day is perfect for checking out some of the unique features of the USA. We traveled around the US for nearly 6 weeks and more than 10,000 miles an found an amazingly diverse and beautiful country.

Sadly as is much of our Earth, the USA is also facing huge challenges as the environment takes a back seat to momentary monetary opportunities. The environment is the most valuable asset we have so preserving it is a no brainier.

Earth Day 2012

Dear Earth,

We had a great day celebrating you but to be honest I don't just want a one day stand. I would like us to come together and form a long lasting relationship where we love one another, appreciate what we have and form a bond that transcends time.
I know it won't be easy. You are beautiful with a lot of treasure that unscrupulous suitors will try to take. They will abuse you at every opportunity; treat you with no respect as their personal playground. Others are willing to rape you for their own shortsighted gains, but as long as I can, I will stand by you, fight for you, because together the future is better for both you dear earth, and me.

Your humble guest.

It should be Earth Year.
Our world is too unique and precious to just celebrate it one day out of a year.  If you look around and see all the beauty then it's easy to understand why we all have to work together to save Mother Earth and make it better then previous generations.

All forms and manner of pollutants in the sea, on the land and in our air is threatening animals, nature and us humans.

Our earth is unique
As far as we know there is no life on any other planet close to Earth. That makes the biodiversity and beauty of life on our Earth all the more important.

Fascism, Corporatism or Harperism?

“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”
-- Benito Mussolini.

The 14 common traits of fascism, which the harper government has pretty much covered:

 PM ~ Harper Government
[x] Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
[x] Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
[x] Supremacy of the Military
[x] Rampant Sexism
[x] Controlled Mass Media
[x] Obsession with National Security
[x] Religion and Government are Intertwined
[x] Corporate Power is Protected
[x] Labor Power is Suppressed
[x] Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
[x] Obsession with Crime and Punishment
[x] Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
[x] Fraudulent Elections

by NL

Stephen Harper has sold out Canada and Canadians

. . . and continues to do so.

Free trade and globalization works to the benefit of China and China has a take no prisoner attitude in trade.

When I was young one of the signs that Christmas was approaching was the arrival of Japanese mandarin oranges. Our family would buy boxes and boxes. Today we still buy mandarins at Christmas, but the mandarin oranges are now from China. China came, they saw and they conquered.

China marches forward
One industry after another has collapsed as the Chinese economy marches forward. The willing capitalists - who embrace the short term opportunity of making cash - will find themselves the victims of long lasting enslavement.

When markets are surrendered to China they are at the mercy of China. Things in politics are not complex if there's an ounce of intelligence in politicians, along with the determination to do the right thing, rather than the short term goal of fattening their corporate overlords. Remember how many business leaders Harper took to China?

Could relations with China be a threat to National Security?
The US is now in the process of selling out it's food source for short term gains to China. We should have already learned about this kind of one dimensional trade from the sale of apples to China.

First China bought our apples, then they grew the trees on a scale we cannot match and now juice and other apple products are imported from China.

Harper wants Canada in the Pacific Rim Trading Agreement. Without doubt, our agriculture is going to be impacted, and in the long term Canada will take a hit on being food independent.

China's pursuit -
Innovation and efficiency:
China will import a technology or create a joint-venture; learn the best practices, apply those practices at a lower cost than overseas rivals and emerge as an aggressive competitor in the global market.

China's solution:
To super-size its supply by snapping up millions of live animals raised by U.S. farmers as breeding stock - capitalizing on decades of cutting edge agricultural research in America.

"By taking this step, say breeders and exporters, China will move from small-scale backyard farms, to the Westernized tradition of large consolidated operations to keep up with demand."

ACTION: ForestEthics Advocacy WILL defend our rights, forests, air and water!

Dear Cindy,
The Harper government has declared war on our environment.
After months of attacking environmental charities they announced yesterday that they are gutting environmental oversight of pipeline, drilling, fracking and other destructive projects across Canada.
I am outraged. That’s why I’m helping ForestEthics launch a new organization – ForestEthics Advocacy -- that can act and speak freely in the face of this government crackdown.
Will you join me in defending our rights, forests, air and waterby making a gift to ForestEthics Advocacy today?
Every dollar you contribute will be matched by a generous donorwho has pledged $10,000 to help us fight against this Big Oil agenda. In order for the match to count you must make a gift by midnight this Thursday, April 19.
Recently, the Harper government set aside $8 million in the federal budget to muzzle environmental groups by giving the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) the authority to conduct aggressive investigations that remind me of the McCarthy era.
What Canada needs now is not less advocacy for the environment, but more, not less free speech, but more. As of today, ForestEthics Advocacy can now work on your behalf fighting the Harper Petro-State without interference from the government.
Please give and give generously and remember that every dollar you contribute will be matched by an anonymous donor.Feel free to forward this message to 3 of your friends and ask them to give too.
Thank you for joining me in defending our public lands and democratic rights.
-- Clayton Ruby, CM, QC, Civil Rights Lawyer
P.S. As I write this message ForestEthics' Co-Founder Valerie Langer is being grilled by the Canada Revenue Agency. This is not the first intimidation tactic we can expect from the Harper government, nor the last. If you believe, as Valerie and I do, that we must speak up for what is in the best interests of Canadians and NOT Big Oil,please make a gift today.

Squirrel Whisperer -

Cindy IS the 'squirrel whisperer'! lol These little guys were so cute and curious.

We had gone to Haynes Point Provincial Park in Osyoos, British Columbia. Haynes Point is located on the west side of Osoyoos Lake near the border of Canada and the USA.

Haynes Point Provincial Park is situated the narrow sand spit that you can see in the photo, that almost cuts Osoyoos Lake in half. All along this spit of land, on both sides are amazing campsites. This is where we encountered these Red Squirrels.

The Long-billed Curlew, Numenius americanus - RARE YouTube

It is believed that there are only a few hundred breeding pairs of Long-billed Curlews in British Columbia, Canada.

Prior to legal protection in early 1900s, Long-billed Curlews were decimated by hunters in eastern North America, and were eliminated from many parts of their range by expansion of agriculture on the plains and prairies in the 1930s. The Long-billed Curlew has already disappeared from most parts of eastern Canada and United States.

In British Columbia, curlews breed in the Southern Interior; primary breeding areas are the open grasslands from Williams Lake west through Alexis Creek, in the Okanagan and lower Similkameen valleys, in the East Kootenay Trench, in the Nicola Valley and near Kamloops; a few pairs breed north along the North Thompson River to Clearwater and along the Fraser River near McBride.

Curlews frequent grassy terrain, newly-ploughed fields, green hayfields, meadows and pastures; birds do not have to be near water.

Curlews got their name from their unmistakable call, "curleeuu, curleeuu, curleeuu. "

When danger approaches, parents sound an alarm call telling chicks to "freeze" and hide; parents and neighbouring birds dive from skies to drive intruders off.

Threats:
Habitat loss due to agriculture and urban development.
Sensitivity to human disturbance.
Off-road vehicle use in or near nesting habitat.

The Mountain Bluebird ~ Sialia currucoides

Bluebirds are considered fairly common, but their numbers have declined substantially during the last century. Populations have been given a boost by the birdhouse boxes that have become popular in many parks and backyards.

Bluebirds eat small fruits and hunt insects, spiders, and other creatures from above. The birds perch, watch, and then swoop to the ground to pounce on their prey.

Pairs mate in spring and summer, when they construct small, bowl-shaped nests. Females lay four or five eggs and incubate them for about two weeks. Young remain in the nest, cared for by both parents, for an additional 15 to 20 days. Bluebirds often have two broods in a season. Sometimes, a young bluebird from the first brood will remain in the nest and assist its parents in caring for the second.

What are YOU afraid of?

Spiders, snakes, sharks, mountain lions, crocodiles, clowns are some things people fear. My fear is of hornets and wasps, I run like a fool swatting when they pay me a call.

Canadians want to be heard, NOT BULLIED, about Environmental Issues

Today in Canada, we have a governance, the harper government, that does not tolerate dissent or disagreement, particularly when it comes to the environment. The harper government's mandate is industrialization at all costs.

To those who have questioned this stance, the harper gov't has resorted to name calling (Canadians were called 'radicals', 'enemy of the state') and threats. The harper government has targeted both individuals and organizations. Now, they are using their political mite to create laws with the purpose of silencing voices that chose to question harper government policy.

I received this email from David Suzuki who was one individual in Canada who came under attack by the harper government. I am saddened for David Suzuki and the steps he is taking and am also grateful that he will continue his great work for Canadian sustainability and the Canadian environment. Thank you David Suzuki. To me, David Suzuki is a true Canadian Hero.

This is David Suzuki's Letter:

Dear friends,

Some of you may have seen media coverage about my decision to step off the board of directors of the David Suzuki Foundation. I am writing to tell you more about this and what it means.

After my children and grandchildren, my greatest pride is the David Suzuki Foundation.

I am fiercely proud of how the Foundation brings science and solutions to environment problems. I’m determined to ensure that the Foundation continues to have the ability to solve critical environmental issues and bring hope for the future.

But I have reached a point in my life where I would like to consider myself an elder. I want to speak freely without fear that my words will be deemed too political, and harm the organization of which I am so proud. I am keenly aware that some governments, industries and special interest groups are working hard to silence us. They use threats to the Foundation’s charitable status in attempts to mute its powerful voice on issues that matter deeply to you and many other Canadians.

This bullying demonstrates how important it is to speak out.

The Foundation’s science-based, solutions-oriented research and educational work has enriched our democracy and reflected Canadian values for two decades. While not always happily received by governments or industrial interests, this work is strictly non-partisan, as required by the laws governing charities, and has made the Foundation one of the most trusted environmental voices in Canada.

Our opponents, however, are redoubling their efforts to marginalize the Foundation by getting at me, personally.

So last year, I made the decision to step off the board of directors of the David Suzuki Foundation. I remain one of its most active volunteers and committed major donors. This way I can fulfill my personal mission and the Foundation can continue to build on its inspiring work—for us and our grandchildren—in finding solutions to our shared, and very real, environmental challenges.

I hope you understand this decision and will continue to show your, steadfast support for my work in this concrete way:

Please share this letter with your family and friends and, at this critical moment, invite them to become supporters of the David Suzuki Foundation, by joining our online community ordonating today.

Sincerely,

David Suzuki

Bee's vs Ant's - Deadly Fight!

We were exploring Canada's 'pocket desert' when we came upon this amazing battle! Bee vs. Red Ants!

AMAZING - It's like 2 alien species battling for supremacy. The difference in size is just one of the unique things, but there are more, bee's can fly ant's obviously can't. Never seen anything like this before.

Cindy filmed this since when I saw the bee's being agitated I thought it was best for me to stay away.

Bee's Pollinating Orchard - Bee Collapse?

I love cherries, but it turns out these might be apricots trees getting pollinated by the bee's. Cherries are my favorite fruit, but I also love apricots, peaches, watermelon cantaloupe, almonds, mango's, garden ripened tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Plus many more, and the thing they have in common -  bee's have to pollinate the flowers of the plants or there are no crop's.

By some estimates more than 30% of the global bee population has died off and this will have major consequences on all food production. This is not exclusive to North America. Bee's are dying all across the planet - The honey trap: How the demise of Britain's bees could cost us £1.8billion a year,  Bee Emergency: Unexplained Mass Die-Off Hits German Hives,

European beekeepers observed similar phenomena in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, and initial reports have also come in from Switzerland and Germany, albeit to a lesser degree while the Northern Ireland Assembly received reports of a decline greater than 50%.Possible cases of CCD have also been reported in Taiwan since April 2007

STOP THE TARSANDS WOLF KILL

Unethical . . . corrupt?
“Why has the harper government apparently become the spokeman for one resource at the exclusions of everything else in this country that matters?”

Has Big Oil or worse, infiltrated and corrupted the harper government? Large tracts of the the tarsands have been sold to China. I’m not an expert, but to me, could that not signify a real National Security threat? Even CSIS Director Richard Fadden has expressed concern.

Controversial tarsand breeds horrific wolf cull.
The tarsands have been controversial since the 70’s and remain controversial especially now. Today, along with global pollution, Canadian wildlife is being eradicated. Today, hundreds of Northern Alberta wolves are being poisoned with strychnine because of the industrialization of the tarsands in our northern boreal forest region.

The reasoning is unscientific and senseless -
Proponents of the tarsands claim wolves are threatening the caribou herds which is not at all the facts and science. Regardless, strychnine is set out to poison the wolves. The spin off from this is that smaller animals are also being killed by this poison. They either eat it themselves or alternatively, eat animals that have already died from the stychnine. In the near future, thousands more wolves will be killed by aerials shooters.

Other wildlife affected . . .
The caribou are being threatened and risk becoming extinct. This is not because of the wolves, but due to the loss of the caribou habitat through the industrialization of the tarsands. Hundreds of bears are also being shot as they wander into oil camps that are failing to contain their garbage. And still more birds are dying from landing on toxic tailings ponds and lakes that result for the bitumen extraction process.

Does the Alberta Tar Sands Industry Pollute?
The Scientific Evidence

Cancers and deformities -
Some of these toxic ponds and lakes are leaching into the Athabasca River, a water resource for many. The toxins are causing cancers in those who source this water for survival. Fort Chipewyan residents have "been suffering for more than ten years from surprisingly high rates of cancer". Animals and fish are being found with deformities that are traced to the toxins. Cancers are rampant and they are cancers that can be traced to oil processes.

The tarsands are a catastrophe nationally and globally! Please watch the video below and take action.

The Osprey - Pandion haliaetus - Raptor

A Desert in Canada?
Canada has one desert. It's located in the South Okanagan region of British Columbia.  It's considered a 'pocket desert' one of North America’s most fragile and endangered ecosystems. Despite its small size, it is home to an exceptional array of desert plants and animals, some found nowhere else in Canada, many on the brink of extinction. It is here, that's we filmed the osprey's on April 13, 2012.

They're often call fish hawks . . .
Osprey's eat fish which they can see from great heights as they fly over bodies of water, when they spot the prey they hover by flapping their wings and then if all things go right, meaning the fish don't spook, the osprey dives into the water with talons stretched out and catches the fish.

The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the sea hawk, fish eagle or fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts, with a black eye patch and wings.

Food source?
As the common name suggests, the Osprey's diet consists almost exclusively of fish. It possesses specialised physical characteristics and exhibits unique behaviour to assist in hunting and catching prey. As a result of these unique characteristics, it has been given its own taxonomic genus, Pandion and family, Pandionidae. Four subspecies are usually recognised. Despite its propensity to nest near water, the Osprey is not a sea-eagle

Migratory?
Osprey's are migratory birds. We have seen and filmed them in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico in the winter months. The Osprey tolerates a wide variety of habitats, nesting in any location near a body of water providing an adequate food supply. It is found on all continents except Antarctica although in South America it occurs only as a non-breeding migrant.

California Beach - NICE!!

Between LA and San  Francisco the road meanders along the coast with small towns and many beaches to explore.  There are no crowds here, and it seems like a very laid back place.  It's a California that many people are looking for and finding it is as easy as leaving the bigger centers behind.

Music by CHRISS ONAC  - Frere and Passage

California - driving along the coast

The scenery is spectacular, lots of beaches, hills, wildflowers but there is also agriculture, farms and the smell of the strawberry fields is intoxicating.  Driving along on a hot summer day at 60 - 70mph, windows down, the smell of the strawberries just fills the air. And luckily there are fruit stands to be found.

Same day as other videos but we moved down the coast to another beach and the sun came out.  Spectacular, I would love to spend a few days along here, checking out the beaches in rain and bright sun, it's so beautiful.  Also when the tide is out starfish and other creatures get exposed along the rocks.

TAKE ACTION: HELP FILIBUSTER THE 2012 BUDGET

PLEASE STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND SEND AN EMAIL TO MP PETER JULIAN NOW!!

Tell Peter...

How is the new budget hurting you, your family, your business or community?

Peter can read your emails in the House of Commons!!

NDP finance critic Peter Julian still has the floor as the budget debate enters a third day. If he can keep going past Thursday, the NDP may indeed be able to successfully deprive every other member in the House the opportunity to share his or her thoughts.

This filibuster could prolong the budget debate past the Easter break. We need to push the debate past Thursday, at which time the house goes on break for 2 weeks.
